Dr. Pedersen is excellent. Her exam was thorough, she explained everything and was very professional and caring. The one star is given to their optical department. I selected and paid for a pair of glasses on December 12 and asked that they be mailed to me. I was told five to seven business days. It is now January 4 and I still have not received my glasses. I called earlier this week and left a message for him asking him why the order was not received and no one returned my call. Needless to say, my optical needs will be taken care of elsewhere in the future but I will continue to see Dr. Pedersen.I wanted to update this review. On Monday morning, I received a call before 8:30 from optical apologizing because no one returned my call. He explained the glasses were sent by UPS but upon checking, UPS was unable to locate it. Another order was placed with the lab and on Thursday evening, optical was kind enough to personally deliver the glasses to my home along with a very nice case and cleaning supplies. I sincerely appreciate the extra effort. As I told Miguel, were good.

Never in my life have I had trouble with eyeglasses before coming here. For context, my eyes have been stable for 10 years. I wear contacts daily and glasses only on long flights etc. I've had a handful of glasses in my life and never had a problem before here. First prescription (Prospect Ave. location) was completely wrong for the glasses. I've had a small astigmatism my entire life (not large enough to fix with contacts, just fixed in my eyeglasses), but here they couldn't find it. I was repeatedly told, "This can happen. Eyes change." I pushed back responding that I've always had one. Please recheck. They still didn't find it and promised we'd make sure the prescription glasses worked. After purchasing an obscenely overpriced frame, and being up-sold on all the bells and whistles for the lenses, the resulting glasses were unusable. Complete fishbowl vision. I didn't even know that was possible. I tripped every few steps and ran into walls and doorways. They said, "You'll get used to them. Your eyes just need to adjust." Eventually they re-tested my eyes (keeping the same prescription each time) and remade the lenses twice. I still couldn't see out of them. I wanted a refund. They refused. The following year I tried a new eye doctor, this time at the Brown Deer location. This time they did find an astigmatism. Rather than fix the old lenses, they were convinced that it was the frames that were causing the problem. They must be too big (these were not large frames - to call them mid-size would be a stretch). After a long negotiation they offered a 50% discount on the new frame but no discount on the lenses. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and coughed up more money (now we're around $500 investment in this company after the discount from my insurance both years). The new lenses were also wrong but in new and exciting ways. If I angled them just right off the edge of my nose and tilted the down I could read some things. Strike two. Again I called and left messages about fixing them and didn't receive a response. This year, I returned to the prospect location and demanded that they fix my glasses. Turns out the prescription for the second pair was entered incorrectly into the computer. They examined my eyes again and found yet a third prescription. (Remember, my eyes have been stable for 10 years.) They were convinced this new prescription would work and replaced the typo pair. They work OK and can be used in a pinch but are too strong. The tech did the eye exam but the eye doctor didn't even check it. I followed up about fixing my original pair and was told a flat "no". A complete turnaround from my last visit. I was told there was nothing they could do. That's false. They could actually fix my glasses or give me the refund I originally requested. I must have left 15 message over the past two years and only received a call back once - year one. I'll go back to getting my glasses at Costco or LensCrafters - no problems, ever. My experience was that this place does not value their patients/customers and just wants more money to fix problems that they created. An utter disappointment.

This is the first review I have ever written because I am so disappointed by the service at Milwaukee Eyecare Associates. I originally went there because I was a college student three hours from home. I have now been a patient there for the past three years and regret every appointment I've attended. I was plagued with ongoing eye issues in two separate 5 month stretches. Over those ten months, I attended several appointments to try and figure out what was wrong and get the correct treatment plan. From these appointments, I felt as though only the superficial issue was being addressed because the ailment kept returning. After feeling helpless due to blurred vision, eye pain, inability to wear contacts, and overall dry eyes, I made an appointment at my previous eye doctor in my hometown three hours away. The difference in caliber of service was astonishing. Fifteen minutes after sitting in the exam chair at my old doctor's office, I was given a straight diagnosis and prescription. I remember telling my mom how frustrated I was by Milwaukee Eyecare Associates' inability to accurately diagnose my problems and how much I regretted the time I wasted there when I could have been effectively treated and avoided the year of suffering with unhealthy eyes. The symptoms related to this issue have been completely resolved since taking the medication prescribed by my old doctor. Secondly, the people at Milwaukee Eyecare Associates were not the friendly employees one would expect from a seemingly neighborhood family doctors office. There were times I felt talked down to because of my young age (20/21 at the time) which did not sit well with me. I gave them one more chance because I needed contacts and the three hour drive to my home optometrist did not fit in my busy schedule. I attended the contact exam and was thoroughly disappointed yet again. When the technician had a hard time adjusting my vision to 20/20, she brought a doctor in for assistance. This doctor was unbelievably rude. She did not greet me and barely looked at me aside from my eyes. She spoke to the technician as though I were not in the room and seemed annoyed that I was having a hard time clearly seeing the eye chart across the room. I left the office in a bad mood but was happy I could finally get contacts...or so I thought. Because they did not have my prescription of contacts in the office, they said they would order a trial pair for me which would be in in about a week. It has since been three weeks and I haven't heard anything. I called the office to check the status of my trial pair but they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I am an incredibly easygoing person but I feel as though I've been taken advantage of by this office one too many times. Once I get my official contact prescription, I will be taking it elsewhere to purchase contacts. I am never returning to Milwaukee Eyecare Associates and advise others to do the same. Update: 11 days past writing the initial review and still no word about my contacts.

My Doctor at this location is great but the woman at the glasses counter is awful. Her demeanor and attitude were incredibly rude. I tried to pick up a pair of glasses and really did not need anything else. They were already paid for and they are work glasses so I did not need them adjusted and told her that. The attitude coming off of her was very off putting. The glasses at this place are not cheap but I like to try shopping local. Can't say I will ever buy glasses here again. I won't pay extra for attitude.

I am really disappointed. My health insurance covers eye exams at 100%, but I still received a bill for $60!! This was months after my exam, I was shocked. I'll pay the bill, but won't be coming back.
