This update is more about the entire office and not about Dr. So. I still believe he is very qualified and committed to glaucoma care. The laser treatments stopped working after 2 1/4 years so I am now trying out the more conventional treatment for glaucoma, eye drops. No fault of Dr. So's. Just my eyes. But the office and the staff seems to have gotten more and more chaotic. I never have the same person give me my different tests (field vision, etc.). In fact, don't recognize the same people. The turnover is huge and that's disconcerting. The updated office gives absolutely no sense of privacy. If stress could add to eye pressure, all of us would be so stressed by the time we got to see the doctor. The last visit, the woman who did my testing, while not rude, was so cold and so uncaring and so distracted. It was as if I were a dummy subject. That said, if you don't mind chaos, don't mind people who don't care about you as an individual and are looking only for a good doctor for glaucoma, Dr. So is good. If you want a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and people who can take time with you and answer questions, then you need a different office. You are a number here.

I just returned to this office after eight years due to having no other choice at this time due to the medical insurance I have. The only reason for my visit was to see the ophthalmologist (Dr. Reader) who I've seen in the years past. I find that my doctor is quite good, professional, and easy to talk to. I'd seen a particular optometrist here also in years past, and the reviews of him are accurate meaning that you should find someone better truly.

Now for the overall experience of this office I also agree with most reviewers. Although one has an appointment one may be waiting for an eternity. It happened to me just last week. In fact, after noticing other patients being called for their appointments I got worried and went to the front desk to enquire should they have forgotten about me. But they didn't. The place is under renovation now too. Many years ago it used to be a lovely, quiet office, very organized. A few years hence and up to now it feels like a public clinic. Almost every chair occupied in the waiting areas, and as another reviewer mentioned, one's name is barked out loud as the place is big. One time I arrived promptly for my appointment, had my eyes dilated, waited for what seemed to be an eternity then saw the ophthalmologist. I arrived at 3:30 pm, left the office at 6:30 pm. Fortunately last week's appointment I was there for almost two hours. But then again I didn't need to take a visual field test or I probably would have been there til 6 pm. I did notice upon checking in there were other patients who seemed to have been waiting a while already.

So I feel this is a good office provided you have a good doctor and can withstand a possible long wait.

I had a fairly good experience with them due to Dr. Anne Fung. She was very professional and friendly, but I have to give 3 stars (although I would like to give 2.5 if there were an option) because of the...not 1, not 2, but 3 cancelled appointments I had with her. I'll give a little leeway on the 3rd cancelled appointment since they called to reschedule a week prior, but the first two the office cancelled my appointments the day of, which meant I left work and didn't get paid for nothing! The office didn't even apologize for the inconvenience they caused me, which makes me wonder if it's a common occurrence. I mean who cancels their appointments the day of like it's nothing...and twice in the same year! Of all the years I've seen health professionals, and I'll also add holistic and beauty specialists...the number of canceled appts on their end, the day of the appt., is ZERO! Maybe because they understand that their clients/patients have lives and jobs to maintain, and they want to be professional. Get a clue PEA, I'm seeing a new doctor now!

The quality of care that I have received from the doctors at Pacific Eye Associates has been top notch. Dr. Seiff has successfully operated on me for a tear duct issue, Dr. Heiden has alleviated some serious eye pain, and Dr. King keeps my vision prescriptions up to date. The doctors, techs, and nurses are all great.

The administrative staff is not so great. I have never met such an unprofessional group of receptionists and admins. I have seen the admins throw things at each other, call each other names, scream about someone eating someone else's cookie, and blatantly ignore little old ladies. When you call to make an appointment, "Hold a second. Will be right with you hon." really means "You are going to be on hold for 25 minutes."

Please also note that if you have an appointment at 1pm, you will not be seen by a doctor until 2:15pm at the very earliest. This is for a normal appointment. If they "squeeze you in" during the day, expect to wait at least 2 1/2 hours. Cancel your meetings, and bring a book. Their magazine selection isn't very good.

If you can get past all of the negative, know that the doctors are professional, knowledgeable, and will fix your problem. Eye pain and eye issues are really scary. I'd rather deal with all of their office craziness in order to know that I'll (eventually) be in good hands.
