The front desk staff member who checked me in was great--friendly and efficient. James, who I believe was the optometrist, and Dr. Moreira were excellent--very knowledgeable, helpful and caring. Unfortunately, the front desk staff member with whom I did my check me out was rude, dismissive, and unfriendly. Put a damper on my whole experience.

During all the years I have been a patient, it is always a very long wait. The time one is seen is about 45 mins. to one hour later than the appointment time. This is not Dr. Verdich's fault, it has something to do with the office.

The service is good.

The reason I gave a rating of 3 is because of their deceptive billing. I was told my procedure would be approximately 6k and that insurance should cover the rest. (I failed to read the intimate details of the paper and took the salesman pitch at face value)

Then the additional bills started to show up. I had already paid over 6k and was lead to believe that would cover everything. Wrong.

Make sure you get in writing all the costs, not just estimates or "don't worry it should be covered by your insurance". In the end it is my own darn fault for trusting a smiling face. I am not skilled at dancing around all the hidden costs.

How much will you pay the doctor for the procedure?

How much will you pay Neilsen Eye Center (This is not included in what you pay the doctor)

How much will you pay the facility the service is done at?

How much will you pay for the anesthesia?

Good luck

The star rating is based solely on the affordability (or lack thereof) of the procedure. What to expect: The office and staff were professional and friendly, the space is neat and clean, and there is parking on site which is convenient. The visit took two hours, which included wait time in the waiting area, filling out paperwork, and the eye and vision tests prior to seeing the doctor. They dilate your pupils FYI.They have you watch a video about the procedure and answer questions, and let you know if you are a candidate or not. Then you meet with the doctor briefly (maybe 2 to five minutes). He was also friendly. Then you meet with the scheduler who will tell you the cost. I was quoted at $6000 for both eyes (no special considerations), minus $1000 for the Fall special they have going now, also minus 5% if I pay cash, so the total would be in the neighborhood of $4800.This is nearly twice what my brother paid at the best LASIK surgeon in LA and was much more than i was prepared for.
