Please read all the way through as it starts out great and ends with a disappointment!!! Two years ago I decided to have IOL's or inter ocular lens implants and chose Mann eye to correct my cataracts. I'm not naming names in this review as I thought everyone at this clinic was very professional and courteous but here's a general synapses of the outcome. After my surgeries I was informed that there may be a possibility of secondary cataracts that could be treated in the office and that my insurance would cover it. I thought this was a strange time to be informing me of this because up till now the lenses were the greatest thing since sliced bread. I was however overwhelmed by the results. I choose the multi-focus lenses at a premium cost that came out to around $8000 for the pair. The first six months I was completely happy with the results then I somehow got pink eye in not one but both eyes. I have never had pink eye in my life! I was prescribed some eye drops to clear it up and was happy once again. Here's where the disappointment sets in. I somehow suffered a detached vitreous in January of 2020 which has blurred my vision ever since. By blur I mean that there is a gel like blob floating around in my eye like the floaters you often see. At first I thought it was the secondary cataracts and was treated for such but after the fourth session hardly any improvement as was basically told to get used to it and my brain would compensate for the distortion. Unfortunately it's my dominant eye so, Not what I was wanting to hear! The staff and doctors are all very friendly and knowledgeable but DO YOUR RESEARCH and ask questions. I pretty much took everyone at face value and was later given key information that would have given me a pause to reconsider my choice. I still have a blob affecting my vision and there's also a problem with double vision that comes and goes which is a real problem when driving.

It is very hard to get through to someone on the phone, no one answers, too many options to choose & not enough of the correct options. There doesn't seem to be enough communication between the staff which trickles down to the patient. "The right hand doesn't always know what the left hand is doing." Patients need to know who their advocate is so if a question comes up, we would know who to call instead we get lost in the phone system & then rarely get a return call.

I appreciated Dr Pope's knowledge and willingness to explain what was going on with my eyes. Jahlisa Wallace was also very professional and explained pricing. The reason I gave 3 stars are the pricing of test done without telling me it was additional cost, the Lab Guy who greeted me and took me to the room where I was tested. He was very stoic, I couldn't tell was he having a hard day or what was going on with him. The same Lab Tech was upset with me because I asked him to clean the items touching me. He made a statement, everything was wiped down and would not wipe anything else. What was also amazing, not one person had gloves in or cleaned their hands before starting. The last thing is the pricing, Mann's pricing is more expensive than other s.

This could have been a five star for the actual appointment itself and the doctor along with his assistant. However, I phoned on the morning of my appointment to confirm my appointment and time. My appointment was reconfirmed. When I arrived, I was told I had to have a personal physician referral.....I told the receptionist I was referred by my eye doctor..."oh, no, you have to have a doctor referral." She told me that she phoned me yesterday to tell me that.....I did not get the call as sometimes the cell messages dont get on voice mail right away. But, she was able to reach my doctor who gave her what she needed. I was put in the lobby to wait for my 1:55 PM appointment. I was finally called in for my appointment 45 minutes later.I know times are tough and this is a different experience with what is going on in healthcare....but my time is just as valuable as Mann Eye and I never mind and understand waiting a few minutes, 15 maybe 20 minutes....45 minutes and I had to go to the counter to ask what is the hold up....no excuse. The doctor was professional and courteous. The surgery professional was equally helpful. But it was a mixed emotion on my visit.
