Samuel Cady at Maine Eye in Portland, Maine.I had cataracts removed on Dec. 3, 2019 and on January 28, 2020.Both procedures went exceedingly well. There are not enough superlatives to describe the excellent care I received from Dr. Cady and his staff. Bear in mind that I am an anxious person but Dr. Cady put me at ease with his patient and kind demeanor and his professionalism. I trust him TOTALLY and most highly recommend him.Also, all the office related details, like scheduling, giving information about pre-and post-op details, etc. were handled with utmost clarity, punctuality, respect, kindness.We are most thankful to Dr. Cady for helping me get my vision back to normal in such a painless, pleasant way.Mercedes E. I could not be more pleased with my cataract surgery with Dr. Cady. He and his staff were fantastic. I knew I was in kind and capable hands from the beginning to the end. I have had NO discomfort. My vision is exactly as I expected it after surgery. I am elated! Thanks!!

I was a patient of Dr. Berman from the time I was weeks old until I was 22. I see many people complaining about the wait time. I don't think they understand that Dr. Berman is one of the ONLY pediatric eye doctors who also perform surgeries in the state of Maine. He has performed two eye surgeries on me, and seen me yearly my whole life. He may not always be the friendliest, but he is good at his job. He probably would like to spend more time with each patient, but the volume is so ridiculous that he can't. I now see Dr. Whitney Miller, but Dr. Berman told me to go back to him should my lazy eye become more pronounced. He cares about his patients, but has likely had to sacrifice some of his bedside manner for efficiency. The question is, how can we encourage more pediatric eye surgeons to come to Maine? There is a shortage of quality eye doctors. My sympathies to all those with screaming kids, to the kids at the eye doctor's in discomfort, and to Dr. Berman and his staff for being so overwhelmed.

Dr. Samuel Cady is an excellent Ophthalmologist. His high level of education, experience, and knowledge paired with his ability to communicate the facts with patients in a kind manner was greatly evident during many visits to his office. He does not rush a patient's time with him, patiently answering questions in a manner that is understandable. Dr. Cady cares about providing his patients with the best care possible. I highly recommend him and the Maine Eye Center.

Only first time -- setting up a somewhat complicated appointment, but scheduler (Brian) was excellent. I had called previously and was connected to a female who was NOT helpful and was a bit dismissive and impatient, but he totally changed my mind about this practice (and I'm a healthcare provider myself, so all about "patient service"!)!!! Good job, Brian!
