Poor customer service especially for children with special needs. If you're a pediatric eye specialist have some compassion and patience. I feel like my childs being tortured for absolutely no reason AT ALL! I WILL NOT be taking my child back here EVER. Nor will he ever have one finger layed on him from this place EVER AGAIN. Dont like your job then leave. And get an ego check while at it. May aswell take your child to some underground black market eye center. They may be treated with better compassion. I feel like no progress and nothing but debt after most health insurances do not cover eye care and I wasnt even told from the first visit they dont even take eye insurance! Only after I get multiple huge bills. An eye center that dont take eye insurance? Im only giving this a 1 star because we cant choose zero. Save the response of call so you can have a better experience because you're wasting your time!

I saw Dr. Thees for my routine eye exam and he was great. He was both professional and friendly, making me feel welcomed into the practice. However, the building, office, and patient rooms were very worn looking. I went to the Maine Eye Center to get glasses almost 30 years ago, and I don't think any updates have been done in that time period--it stood in sharp contrast to the new Eyecare Medical Group building in Saco.

I have seen countless optometrists, but never have I had such a terrible experience as I have with Maine Eye. The doctor I saw is no longer in practice, however, he provided very little help for my condition. Additionally, the one procedure that he did do was billed incorrectly as a surgery. I was surprised with a $425 bill. I was initially told last year that it would be resolved, but never received a follow up. Over a year later, I received the same bill again for $425. When I call to try to resolve the issue, the billing department will not answer any of my calls or messages. I have called at different times and have left several voicemails. I have even called the office explaining that I can't reach anyone in billing and they say there is nothing they can do. It is now 1.5 years since I had the procedure and I continue to be billed incorrectly for a procedure I did not have.

Very fishy billing practices. They refuse to bill vision insurance even for routine exams. But they won't tell you this upfront, only once you've been sent a bill.

Ive been going to the eye doctor since I was a toddler because of severe myopia and Ive never had a doctor be so rude and discriminatory. I was referred to another doctor for asking questions about drops and getting teary because of having to have a stranger touch my face. Im diagnosed on the autism spectrum and it is incredibly common for us to have sensory issues around lights, sounds, personal space. He is unwilling to accommodate and will condescend to you if youre on the spectrum.
