My son had an appointment at Manns Eye Institute, located at 18850 S. Memorial Dr., Humble, TX. After the initial exam, we looked at eyewear options. I spoke with Westley Ulloa after selecting a pair of frames for my prescription. I asked him to check how much would be covered under our vision plan for the frames and lenses.He initially told me there was no way to look up the coverage and that Medicare usually only covers the eye exam, meaning I would have to pay out of pocket for the glasses. That didnt sound right to me, so I called Molina Dual directly. They confirmed we do have a vision plan.After I shared that, Westley suddenly found the coverage in the system and acknowledged that it would be covered. However, he then recommended a different type of lens that would cost $99.95, plus a $25 warranty.While I was on the phone with the insurance company, I told him he could help the next client while I waited. I overheard him tell the next clienta new patient, just like usthat her insurance didnt cover frames or lenses either, without even checking her plan. He advised her to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed by her insurance. The woman and her daughter ended up asking for a copy of the prescription so they could go to Walmart to get glasses instead.The issue is: why is he telling his clients, without checking their coverage, that they arent covered for frames/lens? I understand trying to upsell a better product, but misrepresenting insurance coverage to get people (new clients elderly/disabled) to pay full price feels deceptivedont you think?

I recently had an eye consultation with Mann Eye Institute and Dr. Verma, and I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. Despite Dr. Verma having a recent foot injury, the appointment ran on time, which I really appreciated.The staff was not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable. They kept me informed throughout each step of my visit, providing updates about the various procedures, which made me feel very comfortable and well-cared-for. I never felt hesitant to ask questions, as the staff was always ready to answer them with clarity.Dr. Verma was exceptional in his thoroughness. He took the time to explain the details of my eye condition and discussed the risks and benefits of each option related to my upcoming procedure. I felt confident in his expertise and appreciated how patient he was in addressing all of my concerns.Overall, Im looking forward to moving forward with the procedure once I receive the pending insurance determination. Im confident that Dr. Verma will provide excellent care throughout the process, and Im grateful for the professionalism and compassion shown by the entire team.C. Budde
