Ive been a patient of Spine Team Texas since 2009. Based on my condition, i knew Id need a spinal fusion at some point but was afraid of what could happen so I delayed as long as possible. In 2015, I could no longer handle the constant pain and discussed the situation with my doctor at this practice. She said that if she needed the surgery, Dr. Rothbart would be her choice. She mentioned that he was very type A. When I met him for my surgical consult, he was matter of fact, but answered every question I had (and I had more than a few). He told me there are two types of people, those who when surgery is a success will get better, and those who when surgery is a success will still have the woe is me attitude and will claim no change in their pain / issues. Sure hes not terribly warm and fuzzy, but I didnt want a surgeon who was warm and fuzzy, I wanted the best surgeon skill wise. To this day I say that having the surgery by Dr. Rothbart was the best thing I ever did. So much so that when I ended up needing surgery for a situation that happened suddenly in 2018, I had no issues with having Dr. Rothbart perform that one as well. Admittedly, he did get upset with me when I tried to schedule this surgery around work...however, he explained that the condition was what warranted surgery immediately. I knew that was true and I shouldnt have tried to postpone it. Do I wish he responded better in that one moment? sure...but he was right. Do what I did, find an amazing and personable doctor whom you see regularly and can hold your hand and tell you everything will be alright and then find the best skilled surgeon regardless of personality when necessary. I hope that this review can help someone go into an appointment with Dr. Rothbart with some understanding of his personality (or at least my perception of his personality) because while hes not the most personable of doctors, at the end of the day, hes a remarkable surgeon.

Dr Rothbart is very caring and takes all the time needed to ensure you are diagnosed correctly and that you are well informed of needed treatment and takes the time to ensure all questions and concerns are answered. Does not pressure you into decisions but provides all the information for you to make and informed decision.
