Not A Morkin Fan Via Healthgrades - Melina Morkin, M.D.
My opinion is don't go to Melina Morkin. The problem is not WHETHER she can practice medicine, but HOW she practices medicine. Her skills in patient interactions are extremely poor. She's condescending, and answered my questions with responses that steered me to do what she thought was best, instead of giving me information to make my own decisions. Every visit and each question I asked only produced filtered information, not full responses. This was a serious problem because she repeatedly instructed me to return for non-essential follow-up exams. Once I asked why I needed to come back and she said that SHE would feel better if did. Seriously. I understand that at times follow-ups are necessary, but Melina Morkin is a mechanical, overcautious robot and can't be trusted to give advice based on individual patient needs. There are plenty of cataract docs around Boston, so there's no good reason to choose Melina Morkin over more experienced and plainer-speaking docs.

Ridiculously long waiting time! 3-4 hours to see the doctor!

Horrible. If I'm going to continually get access to only the worst doctors, I'm just going to start leaving these reviews. Fist time and last seeing him. This guy entered the room like he was God's gift to mankind, like he had a problem with me personally and I was allowed exactly a single minute of his highness's time, as though it's not his JOB to see patients. While only looking at his computer (beause there's no time to treat a patient like a person) and without asking me questions about my pain, without any preface whatsoever he speed-talked through describing what the eye does with water and oil like I was a med student who already understood everything about the eye. Mentioned symptoms I was not having, only talked about symptoms I was not having, wrote a prescription (because of course $$$) for symptoms I was not having as fast as he could and then just speed-walked out of the room without ending our meeting or making sure I had anymore questions! Probably the rudest doctor I have ever seen and just yet another (amongst a slew) of awful doctors that only makes themselves suddenly available after I have to shout them back into the room-he was in the hallway when I had to shout-ask if he was f*ing done with me. Don't be a doctor unless you can be a person first. He could save himself the fake and forced apology for the "poor experience" by not treating a patient like dirt to begin with! I dont know when bed-side manner was done away with, but without it there is no "care" aspect and all we're left with are highly paid, self-important prescription writers. In the matter of care, the staff and nurses offered 1000 times better assistance than this doctor.

The optometrist was rude, condescending, abrupt, and unsafe. She touched my eyes repeatedly without wearing gloves (during a pandemic, unclear whether she adequately washed her hands between patients). She dismissed my concerns about my eye issues. The office did not tell me ahead of time that I would be getting dilation and would not be able to drive. They did not provide an option to fill out paperwork ahead of time so that I could verify my medical history and spend less time in-person in the office.
