    I had a very positive experience at the South Austin office. Everyone I met with was great in answering my many questions and seemed very knowledgeable with both Lasik and Refractive Lens Exchange surgery.The process for getting my eyes examined was much more thorough than when I had my eyes examined 4 yrs ago at a different place in San Jose, CA which I liked. Yes, it takes some time to do (about 2hrs from start to finish for the full exam including wait time) but I didnt have to wait any longer than I normally would in a doctors office. They do explain the process in writing before the apt so its important TO READ EVERYTHING BEFORE GOING INTO THE EYE APT so you know what to expect and there are no surprises, such as dialation of the eyes. I wouldnt make any big plans after the apt to use the eyes for any type of focus, as it takes time for the dialation to go away - it took me a good 6 hrs until my vision wasnt as blurry. Driving after the apt was a little scary due to the dialation, and I consider myself a good driver. So having someone drive you to and from the apt would be safer than driving alone. Im almost 50yrs, so the LRE would be the best way to go even if 3x more expensive. Cataracts dont run in my family DNA so I wouldnt get LRE to prevent cataracts, even though a good reason to get LRE. I would get LRE because it lasts way longer than Lasik would for my vision due to my aging eyes which I depend on for my career. Lasik would also work for me but it would be temporary especially since I have an asymetrical cornea (which looks like a skateboard ramp) vs a symetrical cornea (which looks like a dome). So, my advice is to research Lasik and LRE before going into the apt so you can ask as many questions as possible. This will hopefully give you the best outcome from your eye exam and the best solution needed to move forward with improving your vision.

    In 2015, I got my Lasik surgery for both eyes. (I am not one of the Cyclopes!) Since then, my vision is improved and stronger. Each year I return for my vision checkup. I get high and top marks.brbrFor five years now I am free of eyeglasses and can see the beyond. I can see better. Ive a newborns vision; Im born again with my vision. brbrI can hike, kayak, and read with new vision. Ive Dr. Barker, Kristin, and the team to thank. I bow to them.brbrCall them soon and ask for Kristin. Shes knowledgeable and the team will roll out the red carpet with attentiveness, care, and expertise.     The staff are so professional that they made feel at home . Also the doctor and his staff gave me details during the eye exam about what I need and what to do. I highly recommend Mann Eye Institute

    A friend that I have known for over 20 years had lasik done by Dr. Mann SR. The very next day she was seeing 20/15. I had contemplated for over a year whether or not to take the risk to have my eyes corrected. I even went as far as having a consultation at another location (not Mann Eye Institute) last year. Obviously I chickened out and bought a brand new pair of glasses. After my friend had great success a month ago, I decided to set up a consultation at the same exact place she went to and scheduled my lasik with the exact same doctor she used too. I had my eye surgery two days ago. When I woke up the very next morning I could see clear as day. I went in for my follow up appointment the morning after my surgery and I was seeing 20/15 like my friend. I have absolutely no regrets, except just not doing it sooner.
