I had laser cataract surgery in both eyes in December 2018 and now have the new symphony lenses recommend by Dr. Kovach. Initial consultations were in Barrington, the surgery took place at the Midwest surgery center in Downers Grove by Dr. Kovach. I am very pleased with the results and although others told me I might still have to wear glasses, I no longer need them! 20/20 vision is great after wearing glasses for 20+ years.Dr. Kovach and his team are very professional in a modern and efficient office and every aspect of the procedure is very well outlined. Although the procedure was not inexpensive as only the minimum type of lenses are covered by insurance the results were worth every penny.

I am very satisfied with the eyes that Dr. Kovach gave me! I am 3 months LASIK post-op without any serious complaints. I was very pleased with my LASIK consultation appointment, and very impressed with how much time Dr. Kovach spent explaining and educating me about the procedure. The waiting room was pretty busy, and I was waiting quite a while (about an hour) before being called back. The surgery appointment was pushed very quickly (on the same day as my consultation), but I could choose any availability best for me. All pre- and post-op education was given to me on that same day of scheduling my appointment. Staff was very friendly, and almost everyone I talked to got their eyes done there as well. My personal optometrist did all of my pre-op eye measurements, who forwarded my information to Dr. Kovach's office. The day of my surgery, I waited in the waiting room for about 2 hours before I was called back. The surgery itself was very quick but slightly uncomfortable. I appreciated how much they said my name in the procedure room and reviewed my measurements before starting the laser. I was a little upset that my pre-medication was given to me so early before the surgery itself (again, close to two hours prior). The post-op pain was more severe than I was anticipating. I was very uncomfortable with sinus pressure-like pain, unable to open my eyes, and photosensitivity. The morning after was easier, but still uncomfortable. I was back to normal about 3 days post-op. My personal optometrist did all of my follow up appointments. My eyes were constantly dry about 3 weeks following surgery and occasionally dry thereafter. I officially have 20/20 vision! The entire bill is pretty pricey. Kovach's office did not allow my insurance to apply the bill to my deductible at all, nor did they pre-approve my post-op eye drops to decrease the co-payment. Much pricier than a LasikPlus or similar facility, but am definitely satisfied, felt more comfortable, and would classify Kovach as more trustworthy in comparison. Overall, I am pleased with my results.

Upon recommendation and referral of my optometrist, Dr. F. Kent Aide, I became a patient of Dr. Mateen AlizNiazee and the Kovach Eye Institute in South Barrington for cataract surgery on both my eyes. These are my impressions: * The facilities of the Kovach Eye Institute are modern and comfortable. Even TV programming in the waiting areas is informative and instructive. The rooms are comfortable, and my wait times were very brief, a matter of minutes.* The staff is professional, attentive, thorough, knowledgeable, competent, helpful, and has a good sense of humor. * The equipment is the newest technology, and the technicians are thorough and friendly. Time is taken to answer questions and explain procedures. * I found Dr. Mateen to be a competent, warm, and caring doctor. He carefully explained the examinations and procedures in my office visits, and on the days of the surgery mentally prepared me for what I would experience through each step. I entered each surgery with confidence, relaxed, and without anxieties. * The outcomes: The surgery was painless, and I now see better from each eye than ever before. As I described the joy of renewed vision, seeing rich colors clearly and sharply, I could also see joy and satisfaction in the face of Dr. Mateen. He and his staff will continue to monitor my healing and recovery over the next months.I am totally satisfied and give my highest recommendations, without reservations, to Dr. Mateen AlizNiazee and the Kovach Eye Institute in South Barrington.

Dr. Ali treated my stye a few months ago. She went above and beyond to patiently explain the causes of styes and my treatment plan. Within a few weeks, the stye cleared up as expected. Additionally, I've been contemplating LASIK for a few years and during my appointment, Dr. Ali was able to thoroughly explain the procedure and address all of my questions and concerns. Her attentiveness, understanding, and knowledge of ophthalmology stood out and made me feel confident in the treatment plan and her LASIK approach. I'd highly recommend her to anyone that needs an ophthalmologist as I know I'll be going to her for any future appointments and for when I decide to get LASIK.

I have been a patient at this clinic for several years. My care has been very good. Both eyes have had the lens replaced and secondary cataracts have been treated. Dr. Kovach spends time with me, answers my questions and tells me what I have to do to keep my eyes as healthy as possible. The staff is very friendly and efficient, especially Glori and Elena at the front desk. They are very helpful. G.L.
