Goel Vision

I was very nervous. Had my left cateract removed 8/26/26. Right will be done on 9/2/26. The office staff was so nice and reassuring. The anxiety medication worked quickly. There were no after effects or nausea. Astigmatism and cataract surgery was quick and other than 1 super-quick twinge (which Dr. Goel told me I would feel in advance) there was no pain/discomfort. Everyone said it was a breeze and it was. Went out to lunch afterwards. Highly recommend Dr. Goel and his staff at the Columbia site. Distance vision was noticeably improved almost immediately and certainly by the follow up exam the next day. Close up is a touch blurry but should improve. Eyes are def more sensitive to the sun, so make sure to wear either the sunglasses they give you or your own good sunglasses. I also appreciated the follow-up call fr Dr. Goel the evening of the surgery.

Dr Goel and his team are efficient, professional and thoughtful and made every aspect of my procedure easy and comfortable. Im so impressed with the all around service and would recommend them to anyone.

I had RLE on 11/5/25, and have been waiting for my vision to improve fully before leaving a review. Its been 10 months, and that still hasnt happened. Before we get to that, let me say that everyone from the receptionist to Dr. Goel were lovely. They did everything they could to make this experience a good one. Though I can see things that I could not have seen before this surgery, I am still not able to see clearly. Driving is a nightmare, as I cant see road signs or addresses until Im 5 feet away. Shopping a grocery store is difficult because I cant read the signs telling me what is down the isles. Nothing is clear beyond 5 feet. Its not even that clear up close, but letters are easier to make out. Light colored font on a light background is impossible to see. So many things.... Ive been back several times and have tried two medications to help with inflammation and dry eye, as I feel my issues are due to dryness. But nothing has helped. They did suggest PRK at one of my many follow up visits, but Im worried that will make my eyes more dry. Perhaps, I should have done the SMILE or PRK first, but we didnt discuss those options. Its been almost a year of thinking this has been the biggest mistake of my life. My natural lens is gone and I cant get it back. I will be making an appointment with an Optometrist to see if what I was trying to avoid(wearing glasses!) will help.
