I had ICL surgery from Dr. Goel 7 days ago, and I can't say enough amazing things about the people and the results.ICL surgery can sound scary, it is where they make a small incision in your eye and insert a permanent contact lens behind your natural lens. From the time I was brought back for the procedure to the time I was back in the recovery area was approximately 20 minutes, and I was out of the office within the hour. Yes, you are awake during the procedure but they give you a relaxing drug and you don't feel a thing. The work being done is actually not in your field of view, it is off in the periphery. Once Dr. Goel starts, you can't really see a thing. I thought it would be freaky but it really wasn't.So how about my vision? I had quite a high prescription and an astigmatism. For perspective, without correction I couldn't even read my phone. 4 hours after the procedure I was back in Dr. Goel's office and could read the 20/20 line. I usually couldn't get past 20/40 with contacts. So, yeah, it is absolutely life changing. For the first 24 hours I did experience some extreme halo effects around direct light, but that was not difficult to avoid. Within the first 3 days that was completely gone.Alright, so let's talk about the people. My first time in the office I saw Dr. Gregory Barbush, and he was amazing. He talked me through the options from Lasik to PRK to ICL to RLE. He brought me through the pros and cons of each and he showed me a video on each of them. He answered all of my questions and spent as much time with me to make sure I was comfortable. I am a scientist and I really wanted to know every little detail about the procedures and how they worked.I had to go back for a 2nd consultation a few weeks after the initial consultation as they wanted me out of contacts for 2 full weeks to get the most accurate prescription on relaxed eyes. This time I met with Dr. Goel and it was incredibly evident that he takes a lot of pride in making sure his patients are comfortable. He again let me ask all the questions I could possibly come up with. He kept asking if I had any more questions or things he could help with. The day of the surgery I arrived and everyone was great from the front of the house assistant to the nurses in the back. I had 3 different nurses throughout the morning (one pre op, one in OR, and one post-op) they were all fantastic. Dr. Goel came before the procedure and again let me ask any final questions and then off we went a few minutes later. From there it was all history. Dr. Goel even called me the night of the surgery and made sure everything was good (I was resting and he left a message, but it meant a lot).I want to also point out that the front of the office staff at the office was amazing as well. They reached out promptly and helped with scheduling or any other questions I had. This practice is just an absolute A+ in the way they comprehensively do corrective eye surgery. I am also a small business owner and these guys just absolutely hit a homerun in every possible way. Every person that I interacted with on their team did their job in a way that reflects being in the top of their field. If you are like me and thought about corrective surgery for years but didn't get it done, the reach out to Dr. Goel and it will change your life!
