Over the years I have been advised by several doctors of Optometry. Dr. Maxwell is always a joy to visit as she brings an excellent blend of technical expertise with customer caring. She reviews my chart history thoroughly before our interaction and absorbs my inputs throughout the exam. Her knowledge gleened from my prior years eye exams and surgical history weighs onto that days exam concisely. I walk out well informed and will recommend Dr. Maxwell to anyone.

Dr. Maxwell was amazing. She was very thorough, explored various options to a confusing problem, spoke to me with genuine concern and very clear language, yet not as though talking down to me. She did not rush and explained her findings with care. In short, she was amazing.

ABOUT
Dr. Karsen Maxwell, O.D.
Dr. Karsen Maxwell was raised in Knoxville, IL. She received a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with minors in Spanish and chemistry at Loras College with high honors. While attending Loras, she was fortunate to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Maxwell then went on to complete her doctorate at the University of Houston College of Optometry where she graduated valedictorian of her class receiving the Beta Sigma Kappa Silver Medal Award.
Throughout optometry school Dr. Maxwell acted in multiple leadership roles including serving as a teaching assistant in clinical laboratories and being the student representative on the optometric academic committee. Following optometry school, she completed an optometric residency in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision.
Dr. Maxwell is board certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry. Her main clinical interests include pediatric eye care, primary eye care, contact lenses including myopia management, and ocular disease/medical co-management.
